On top of that, David had no one in his life to model himself after.

You Are Called to Greatness

As a business owner (or future business owner), achieving your dream—the one God put in your heart—is not that different from slaying giants and defeating heavily-entrenched enemies.

And although you may not have had a ceremony with a prophet and a bottle of oil, like David, you have a call from God to take territory.

Unlike David, though, you have real-life, modern-day examples you can hear from and study under.

Can you imagine what it would have been like to sit with David and ask him what it was like to face Goliath? How did he make the decision not to use Saul’s armor? What spiritual, emotional and mental preparation did it take? What was he thinking & feeling when he stood there and boldly declared the outcome to Goliath? What did it feel like to let that stone fly from his sling… knowing that it was a great shot?

We know that there were those who did sit with David. In fact, he spent years of his life rubbing off on a group of men who—though they started out “losers” by any reasonable definition—eventually accomplished miraculous feats themselves. We know that they learned from David—you can tell by what they did:

One killed 800 men single-handedly in one battle!
One defied an entire company of Philistines after all of his countrymen fled… and defended a lentil patch, defeating the opposition by himself!
Another killed 300 warriors with his spear
Still others risked death in other ways—maneuvering behind enemy lines, killing giants, lions and great warriors.

In other words… they picked up their ability to fulfill the call of God on their lives simply by being around and learning from David.

And you can do the same thing.

When it comes to achieving your dream, I’ll be the first to tell you I don’t have it all figured out. There are pieces that I have to share with you, but God put it on my heart to assemble a group of people who have been where you are and have accomplished great things so that you can be around them and learn from them.

Let’s take Gary Keesee, for example. Nearly 30 years ago, Gary was in debt up to his eyeballs. He and his wife and their 5 kids struggled to get by for 9 years. He was tithing and giving, volunteering in his local church, and still they got nowhere. The debt got so bad—they owed on 10 maxed-out credit cards, they had finance company loans, IRS debt, judgments, liens… and they owed family members tens of thousands of dollars—that Gary became physically ill from all the stress. Can you imagine working on straight commission and trying to be productive under all of that?

Finally, in desperation, Gary began to learn how the Kingdom of God operates. He learned that there are real answers in the Kingdom of God. And as he acted on what he was learning, God supernaturally gave him a business idea that ultimately changed their lives. That business still produces millions of dollars in revenue every year… over 20 years later!

Today I want to tell you about a project that is very near to my heart. I first traveled to Haiti nearly 17 years ago to do short-term missions work and make a difference in the lives of people. It’s really true what they say: you always come back changed. I’ve never been the same. The people we worked with, prayed for and ministered to impacted me far more than we could’ve impacted them.

I know you recall the massive earthquake that struck near Port-Au-Prince in Haiti on January 12th of this year. Now that the media whirlwind has died down, it occupies a little less of our attention than it did. But what a lot of people don’t realize is that Haiti is now home to nearly 500,000 orphans.

We recently got connected to an organization called Caring4Haiti. They’ve established a project to build an orphanage in Ouanaminthe (in the northeast part of Haiti).

My team and I have decided to get behind this project and have “adopted” it for 2011. We want you to get involved, too!
