I’m privileged to be blogging this morning from a business event in Houston with Tom Ziglar (CEO of Ziglar, Inc. and “Proud Son of Zig Ziglar”) and Howard Partridge (AKA “Mr. Phenomenal”), who is Ziglar’s exclusive small business coach.
There are nearly 200 business owners in the room here, and Howard has already pulled a handful of them up to the stage to talk about the significant, even exponential growth they’ve experienced in the last year. Even in private conversations on breaks with some of the attendees, I’m hearing numbers that range from 40% to 267% to even 800% growth in the last year—and these aren’t startups!
Is There a “Magic Pill?”
Of course not. If there were, you’d already know about it.
But… getting around other business people—especially those who share your values—and rubbing off on one another creates a kind-of “cross pollination” of ideas, insights, best practices and actionable items that you just aren’t going to get any other way.
One of the things I love about being around people like Tom and Howard (not to mention our Nourish The Dream speakers like Wes Cantrell, Gary Keesee, Debra Thompson Roedl, Dennis Peacocke, Robert Ricciardelli, Crystal Langdon and others) is that they share one of our fundamental beliefs:
You can become wildly successful and achieve your God-given dream without “selling your soul” or sacrificing your values.
In fact: the most effective way to achieve true success is to focus on living out your values—especially in business.
Here’s a good time for me to express my gratitude to Howard for inviting me to be involved in this event in Houston. Next time you have a chance to get to one of these events, you should.
Do You Agree?
