And the Lord said to Moses, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”
-Numbers 11:23 (NKJV)
Working on your dream can be downright hard sometimes. There are days when it seems like no progress has been made—despite your best efforts.
And then there are days when you’re staring at obstacles that are so insurmountable, you just want to pack up and go home.
But deep down, you know you won’t, because God made you a promise.
And that’s when we have a decision to make. Like Moses in Numbers chapter 11, what God promised you may seem completely impossible. You may see no way in the world to overcome the challenges you’re dealing with. You may see no way for the resources you need—whatever they may be—to show up in time.
And that’s why I love God’s question to Moses in verse 23 of Numbers 11:
“Has the LORD’s arm been shortened?”
In other words: have I somehow become less powerful? Do you think I can’t reach you in your circumstances? Has my ability to overcome insurmountable odds been used up?
The problem we have, of course, is that we don’t see a physical arm. We do, however, see all the obstacles… the challenges… the overwhelming need.
But this is where we need to choose what we look at. If young David had looked at Goliath’s massive size, at the raw destructive power of Goliath’s sword, and had he listened to what Goliath had to say, chances are he would’ve never walked out on the battle field that day.
But David did what Moses did… and what you and I can do today. David chose to draw strength from the Word of God. He chose to carve out some time, go sit by a brook, and meditate on God’s ability.
You can tell it was fresh on his mind, because he told King Saul about the times when his flock of sheep had been attacked by a lion and a bear, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” (I Samuel 17: 37 NKJV)
My friend… God has no shortage of ability. Whatever stands between you and your God-given dream today, it’s time to quit staring at it. Take a few minutes right now and get your eyes (the eyes of your heart) on the Creator of Dreams—the One whose arm is NOT to too short to reach you right where you are and empower you to accomplish what He created you to do. Rely on Him completely. He’ll get it done… and He’ll show you what to do!Tags: ability, Accessing The Supernatural, David, obstacle, power, What to do in a business crisis, Wisdom
